The “Wood” light is obtained by passing the light from the high pressure mercury lamps through a filter made of barium silica with 9% nickel oxide. This filter allows the passage of rays only between wavelengths of 320-400 nm. The main purpose of the “Wood” light review is to make some materials that are normally not visible to the naked eye visible by utilizing the fluorescence properties. This examination method which is made in a darkroom is used to diagnose some illnesses which are given below. These diseases;
- Vitiligo,
- Diseases with deeper colour change,
- Fungal diseases,
- Some bacterial diseases.
